What's new in Domma CMS.

Seventy-three releases since 0.59 - built-in SEO and Security, a free Shopping Cart, notifications, client portals, the Marketplace and a sidebar you can arrange yourself. Newest first, in plain English.

npx domma-cms@latest update

Already running Domma? npx domma-cms@latest update brings a site up to date in place. It backs up first, keeps your content, settings and Tools, and replaces only the engine. Add --dry-run to see what it would do.

Help that stays put, and no more blank waits

The (?) help beside a setting now stays open as you scroll and flips to fit the screen. While a list or the dashboard loads you see the shape of what is coming instead of an empty space, and Users shows everyone's picture or initials.

Forms that look finished

Hints under fields, an icon or a unit joined to an input, a submit button you can style, move and pair with a second button, and trigger messages that repeat the visitor's own answers. Links and boxes are now easy to read on every theme.

0.96 - 0.98 27/09/2026

Arrange the admin your way

Group Tools into folders, then switch the sidebar into Arrange mode and drag things where you want them. Menus, context menus, collection fields and form fields all drag the same smooth way.

0.94 - 0.95 27/09/2026

Every Tool brings its own user guide

Each Tool you switch on adds its guide to the admin's Documentation folder, for the people allowed to use it. Domma CMS now runs on Node 24, and recipes that set up a whole feature at once ask for the right permissions first.

0.93 27/09/2026

Dates you can read, data that stays put

Every date in the admin reads day, month, year. Applicants can see and withdraw their own entries on your site, actions can create entries in another collection, and moving a collection to MongoDB and back keeps every entry exactly as it was.

0.92 27/09/2026

Feedback: tell us, and see what happened

The free Feedback Tool sends a bug, an idea or a thank-you from your admin straight to Domma, then shows you when it is seen, planned, in progress and done, with our reply. Access checks on views and site search were tightened too.

0.91 27/09/2026

A box for anything

The new box shortcode groups any content in a panel that follows your theme, in any colour you like - the plain sibling of the card.

0.89 - 0.90 27/09/2026

SEO is built in

Every site now has SEO in the sidebar: titles and descriptions, a site audit that says what to fix, redirects, the sitemap (blog posts included) and correct canonical links. Sites that used the old SEO add-on keep everything.

0.88 27/09/2026

Password resets done properly, and Tools you can switch off

Resets that work behind a proxy, never reveal who has an account and are limited per account. Admins can send or copy a reset link, and everyone gets a note when their password changes. Built-in Tools can now be switched off, and the admin tells you first what else a switch would affect.

0.86 - 0.87 26/09/2026

Permissions for every Tool

Who may use the Blog or Email is now a permission you grant per role, checked on every request. To-dos remind their owner when they fall due, and notifications go only to the people meant to see them.

0.85 26/09/2026

A shop on every site

The free Shopping Cart arrives: products with options and stock, a cart that follows shoppers round the site and checkout with Stripe, PayPal or pay offline. Plus the Corporate themes and a Slate finish for the admin.

0.83 - 0.84 26/09/2026

Security, switched on

The free Security Tool comes with every site: a health check that says what is weak and how to fix it, sign-in lockout, password rules, a sign-in log and blocking of the scanners that probe every website. Signing out now lasts, even across a restart, and two-factor can be set up at sign-in with Security Pro.

0.80 - 0.82 26/09/2026

The site tells you what needs you

Notifications for a failed email, an expiring licence or a crashed Tool, with badges in the sidebar and desktop pop-ups if you want them. Forms can end early and let the admins know, actions can notify too, and everyone can have a profile picture.

0.79 25/09/2026

To-dos, contacts and notes meet the Calendar

Your open to-dos appear on the Calendar on the day they are due, and a contact or a note shows its events alongside it, with Schedule and Add to calendar one right-click away.

0.72 - 0.78 25/09/2026

Every screen is a Tool you can place

Put any Tool anywhere in the sidebar, choose which screen the admin opens on, and keep the ones that matter from ever going missing. Editors ask before you lose unsaved work, and custom themes from the Theme Roller work everywhere a theme is chosen.

0.71 24/09/2026

Client portals with roles

A role can be confined to a few admin screens with its own home, and Tools bring their own roles and permissions. Visitors who sign in see the menus and pages meant for their role.

0.69 - 0.70 23/09/2026

Live counts in the sidebar

Tools show their numbers beside their names - drafts, unread mail, overdue to-dos, visitors right now - with the detail on hover. Contacts, Todo, Notes and Analytics were rebuilt, Analytics now shows the journeys visitors take, and blog layouts are built from blocks.

0.67 - 0.68 22/09/2026

The Marketplace, and Tools as one file

The Plugins screen became the Marketplace. A Tool now travels as one signed file you can install, update or roll back safely, and Analytics, Contacts, Notes and Todo became built-in Tools.

0.64 - 0.66 20/09/2026

Full email in the admin

Email Pro reads, writes and files your mail: templates, filing rules, send later, undo send, snooze, away messages, conversations and one-click unsubscribe. Side panels resize and remember their width, and invoices print as one PDF.

0.60 - 0.62 19/09/2026

Read your mailbox in the admin

The free Mail Reader shows an IMAP mailbox inside the admin, folders and all, without ever changing it. Site search became part of the CMS, and a Pro Tool can now stand in for its free sibling without losing anything.

0.59 19/09/2026

The Theme editor says what it will actually change

Adopting a theme for a region now reports how many tokens it moves, shows the first few as before and after swatches, and warns when the new theme shares the current surface colour. Public pages also gained proper cache validators, so an edit reaches the browser on the next refresh instead of hours later.

0.58 19/09/2026

Context menu specials, and a page picker for URL fields

The context menu builder gained the actions a browser's own menu offers: reload, back, forward, copy, cut, paste, select all and open site search. Each decides whether it applies to the click that opened it, greying out rather than disappearing. URL fields across the admin gained a page browser.

0.57 19/09/2026

Theme gets its own area, and forms get Triggers

Theme moved out of Site Settings into Content > Theme, with per-element overrides that re-theme any region by CSS selector. Form Triggers arrived alongside conditional logic: a field's answer acting on the whole form, re-enforced on the server.

0.56 18/09/2026

Right-click menus you author yourself

Context menus became a first-class content type. Build one in the admin, bind it to pages, and visitors get it on the public site, resolved server side. Actions come from a fixed vocabulary rather than stored JavaScript.

0.55 18/09/2026

Menu alignment and per-item highlighting

Highlighting moved down to the individual item, so one entry can behave differently from the rest of its menu, and menus gained left, centre, right and spread alignment. New sites now ship with SMTP configured, and say so plainly when it is missing.

0.54 05/09/2026

Menus know which page you are on

Menu items pointing at the current page are marked as such, and what items do on hover and when active became configurable rather than baked in.

0.52 31/08/2026

An editor preview that tells the truth

The split-view preview renders in the page's real colours with live components running, the panes resize by dragging the divider, and preview renders no longer record analytics page views.

0.51 31/08/2026

Whole-page preview, and share links you can withdraw

The Live Preview tab renders the entire page from unsaved changes through the real renderer. Share link mints a signed URL that shows an unpublished page to someone with no login, and revokes cleanly afterwards.

0.50 31/08/2026

Preview drafts on the public site

A draft still returns 404 to the public, but an editor with permission sees the real page on its real URL with a banner. Role-gated pages became reachable from a browser at the same time.

0.49 29/08/2026

Floating panels visitors can move

A floating menu becomes a panel that collapses, drags and resizes, with your configuration as its starting point. Menus also gained spacers alongside separators.

0.43 19/08/2026

Collection displays became interactive

The right-click menu on any collection display now filters, searches, sorts, groups, prints and exports what is on screen, with the view state in the URL so you can share it, and an export permission in the collection schema.

0.42 17/08/2026

Menus anywhere

Menus stopped being limited to the header, footer and admin sidebar. Any slot, plus bindings that let a menu claim a slot for only part of the site.

0.41 17/08/2026

Vertical menus, bindings and drag-and-drop

Orientation, per-slot bindings, drag-and-drop reordering in the menu editor, floating surface options and grouped font pickers.
