Five new menu bar styles
Domma CMS 1.21: five more menu bar styles that look properly different - Tabs, Tiles, Bubbles, Brutalist and Gradient band.
Pill, Segmented, Dock and Neon all gather your links into the same floating tray, and the difference is in the details. Domma CMS 1.21 adds five bar styles that change the shape of the bar itself.
The five
- Tabs - your links stand on a line as folder tabs. The tab for the page you're on is the page's own colour and joins the page below, like a tab in a card file.
- Tiles - each link becomes a coloured square with its icon above the label, like an app launcher. A link with no icon gets its first letter instead, so every link has a square.
- Bubbles - no shared tray. Each link floats in a pill of its own and lifts when you point at it.
- Brutalist - thick black borders, hard shadows and bold type. Links jump up when you point at them and press in when you click.
- Gradient band - the bar becomes a band in your theme's colours with white words, and the page you're on sits in a white pill.
Choosing one
In Content > Menus, open your main menu and pick a style under Behaviour > Bar shape. To try one on a single page first, put [navbar bar="tiles" /] at the top of that page.
Every style still fits itself to the screen, works with Bar icons and Shrink when the page scrolls, and phones keep the usual menu.
A fix worth knowing about
If you resized your browser window while a dropdown was open, the bar could shrink right down and lose its icons. That's fixed.
