Sixteen words. Four groups. Spot the link.
Group Four hides four groups of four among sixteen words or short phrases - fruit, planets, chess pieces, kinds of cake. Players pick four they think belong together. A right guess reveals the group; a wrong one costs a mistake. The server keeps the groups and the clock, and fewest mistakes, then the fastest time, tops the board.
What Group Four does for you
You write the puzzle
Four groups, each with a name, a difficulty and four items. It is checked as you type, with a live preview beside it.
Gentle to Devious
Four difficulties, each in its own colour from your site's theme. Rename them if you like.
So close
Three of a group in a wrong guess? Players are told three of the four belong together - never which three.
Mistakes you choose
Allow 1 to 8 mistakes. Add a time limit, opening and closing times, and a limit on goes per name.
Tap or type
The tiles are buttons: tap them, or use the arrow keys, Space and Escape. A Shuffle button mixes up the tiles left.
Share without spoilers
A personal best, and a Share button with a line of numbers per guess that never gives a word away.

A new puzzle every day
A daily set
Make a list of puzzles, one for each day from the first day. Everyone gets the same puzzle and the same deal of tiles that day, and a new day starts at midnight in your site's time zone. The editor shows when your puzzles run out, and you get a notice when there are 7 days or fewer left.
Streaks and earlier days
Players build up streaks of days in a row solved, and a leaderboard can show the longest streaks still going. They can play earlier days for practice - timed, but never on the leaderboard or in a streak.
Straight answers.
- The groups stay on the server. A player's browser gets the sixteen tiles, dealt at random, and each group only once it is found.
- Out of mistakes on a single puzzle? Only the groups found are shown, so nobody can fail on purpose to read the answers.
- Players give a name only - no account and no email.
